Herbalife Lemon Tea: Reviewed and Demystified

The Herbalife Lemon Tea has been a staple in my healthy journey ever since I started it back in 2010.

At first I was just mildly intrigued about how Herbalife nutrition could perhaps help me in losing my weight and improve my skin. However, after my 8 days trial on the breakfast program, which includes the Herbalife Lemon & Hibiscus Tea, I was hooked!

Well, today, I’m here to spill the tea (pun intended! 😜) on this delightful concoction.

As your friendly wellness coach, I’ve taken the plunge and dived into the world of Herbalife tea to give you the lowdown. So, grab your cuppa ☕️, and let’s journey into the realms of lemony goodness and hibiscus wonders.

Unveiling the Visuals and Aroma of Herbalife Lemon & Hibiscus Tea

The packaging is simplicity at it’s best.

Encased in a well made white bottle, the Herbalife Lemon Tea Mix comes in a powdery form. This makes it light to carry anywhere, and small enough to chuck in your handbags.

The powder is a wonderful brownish hue as you may expect from powdered tea products and I love it’s lemony-tea smell of tea smell. Not too strong and not too mild. It’s just right, as Goldilocks would say.

Some of my nutrition club members say that they can taste the hibiscus. But my sense of taste is not that awesome, I couldn’t taste the hibiscus lol. So I’ll take my friends’ word for it.

By the way, there’s no spoon that comes with the Herbalife lemon tea, but for sure you could purchase the official Herbalife measuring spoon separately or use your own tea spoon at home.

And now….

Let’s talk calories! One serving, which is half a teaspoon (or 1.7g to be precise) is only 5-6 kcal. Hence you could definitely use the tea to flavour your water for hydration instead of syrups and cordial drinks.

And what about caffeine?

Well one serving contains approximately 85mg of caffeine but the question is… is this a lot?

Well, when it comes to the well-being of adults, the FDA recommends a daily intake of around 400 milligrams, which roughly translates to enjoying four to five cups of coffee.5

This is super yeay cause I usually will have 2-5 servings per day of the Herbalife Tea Mix and I absolutely love it!

Let’s Dive into the Ingredients of Herbalife Lemon & Hibiscus Tea Mix Shall We?

When it comes to wellness, knowing what goes into your eats and drinks is essential. Let’s take a closer look at the ingredients that make this tea mix tick.

At first, I just drank the lemon tea and never gave it a second thought, but after attending a nutrition training by Dr. Vipada Sae-Lao6 from Thailand, it was clear that I had no idea how wonderful the Herbalife Lemon Tea is.

I am no scientist or botanical expert, hence let’s get scientific with the ingredients in the tea:

On the label, it says that the tea has orange pekoe, green tea, cardamom seed, hibiscus flower and Malva sylvestris (a kind of flower after a little googling).

Top down visual of orange pekoe tea leaves, green tea leaves, cardamom seeds, hibiscus flowers, and Malva sylvestris on a marble table.

I’m kinda familiar with the ingredients but let’s break it down so that we can get a grasp of what we’re drinking:

Orange Pekoe – It’s a tea! Lol, I would have never guessed. It’s a type of black tea and it’s main benefit apparently is an anti-oxidant. Anti-oxidants are known for their ability to minimize oxidation in the body and take on those pesky free radicals that can wreak havoc in our body1.

Fun fact: Although it’s name has Orange in it, it has nothing to do the fruit orange. Back in the 1600s, it was the Dutch Royal Family from the House of Orange who introduced this tea to the European scene. Hence the name.

Green Tea – Ok, this is definitely a tea. Totally lifted from the Herbalife website, this is what green tea does:

“Both green and black teas contain flavonoids, phytonutrients which help to fight oxidative stress in the body. These natural plant-based compounds help to support both brain and cardiovascular health.”2

Cardamom Seed – Apparently, the humble cardamom seed has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties3. I love to have cardamom seeds in my curries and rice dishes, and it’s awesome to know that the spice can also help with our overall wellness. Love! 💕

Hibiscus Flower – My country’s, Malaysia’s, national flower! Super tropical theme there. So what benefit does this beautiful flower have? Well according to the Healthline4 website

“Hibiscus is high in antioxidants and offers many potential benefits. In particular, it may help promote weight loss…”

Weight loss! Yeay! That’s definitely a bonus right there. 👍

Malva Sylvestris – It’s a purplish flower, and again, it’s an awesome anti-oxidant7. Flower power!
